Regina Sanchez Leija

Regina Sánchez received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, Mexico; her Master’s degree in Materials Science from the same university; and her PhD in Materials Science from Cinvestav, Mexico. During her PhD, Regina worked on the development of novel and sustainable approaches to polymer synthesis using deep eutectic solvents. After receiving her PhD, she joined the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at RPI as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Richard Gross where she studied the lipase-catalyzed synthesis of polyol-polyesters. Regina joined Prof. Paul Nealey’s group at the University of Chicago in 2020 as a postdoctoral researcher.

Regina's current research focuses on solid polymers electrolytes for energy storage applications. Her work involves synthesizing ion conducting polymers and understanding the self-assembly behavior and electrochemical performance of such materials.
