Qiming received a BS in polymer science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Afterwards, he received his MS and PhD in polymer science from the University of Akron, where he worked with Professor Roderic P. Quirk on synthesis of ring-shaped polymers using anionic polymerization and characterization of these unique polymers using X-ray/neutron scattering with Professor Mark D. Foster. After receiving his PhD, Qiming joined the Tirrell Group at the University of Chicago, where he mainly focuses on preparation of polymeric materials for applications such as antireflection and water purification.

Design and synthesis of polymeric materials for antireflection coatings and water purification membranes using controlled polymerization methods.
